Effective 29 September 2026. The seller and contracting party is TaQ Oy, Finland.
These terms apply to the Second Brain service provided by TaQ Oy at secondbrainbox.com (the "service"). Your contract is directly between you and TaQ Oy. The order, payment, billing and refund mechanics are handled by our payment reseller Paddle (see section 6).
By using the service or creating an account you accept these terms and the Privacy Notice. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
Second Brain is a personal knowledge app: notes, journal, projects, tasks, search, voice capture, and AI-powered search, summarisation and Q&A features. The service has a free tier and a Plus subscription tier. Monthly AI usage limits depend on your plan and are shown in the app.
You must provide accurate information (including a valid email address) and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old (or have guardian consent) and be authorised to bind yourself to these terms.
The Plus plan is priced as shown in the service (currently €7/month or €60/year). Subscriptions begin with a 14-day free trial unless stated otherwise. You may cancel at any time; Plus remains active until the end of the paid period. Usage limits reset monthly and unused quotas do not roll over. Applicable VAT is handled according to prevailing tax law.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax and refund mechanics are additionally governed by Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms.
You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service according to your plan. You may not resell, rent out, redistribute or reverse engineer the service or circumvent its technical limits.
You must not use the service unlawfully, including for fraud or spam, to infringe intellectual property rights, to interfere with its security (malware, probing, scraping), or — regarding AI features — to create illegal content, deepfakes, hate speech or malware, or to bypass model safeguards and limits.
AI outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete and are not a substitute for professional medical, legal or financial advice without expert review. You are responsible for your prompts, for verifying outputs, and for having the rights to the content you submit. You retain rights to your inputs and may use the outputs broadly. If you believe content processed through the service infringes your rights, notify support@secondbrainbox.com; we will review takedown requests, may remove or restrict content, and repeated infringement may lead to account termination. We may moderate content processed through the service and refuse unsuitable outputs.
The service (including software, templates and branding) belongs to TaQ Oy. The notes, journal entries and other content you create remain yours.
You grant the service a limited licence to store and process your content solely to provide the service (including storage, backups and the AI processing you request).
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we may develop and change features.
The service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the preceding 12 months. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages (lost profits or data) except where the law requires otherwise. These limits do not apply to fraud, or to death or personal injury where the law so requires.
You will indemnify TaQ Oy for claims arising from your unlawful use, infringement of third-party rights or breach of these terms.
We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated policy violations. When your account ends you can export your content (Markdown export) for 30 days, after which it is deleted. The Privacy Notice explains how long data is retained.
We may update these terms and will notify you of material changes in the service or by email in good time. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by Finnish law. Disputes are resolved by Finnish general courts. As a consumer you may also bring a dispute to the consumer dispute body of your country of residence.
